Before attempting to install PaintForge make sure that the following minimum requirements are met by your computer.

PaintForge project scenes of high complexity may require hardware of higher specification than the minimal requirements specified.

Minimum Requirements

PaintForge 1.0 recommends the following as a minimum for a working environment:

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

Apple macOS 11.7 'Big Sur' or Newer

Processor: Intel Core 2nd Gen Quad Core

AMD Ryzen Quad Core
Apple Silicon

Memory: 8GB
Graphics Card/Chipset: OpenGL 4.1 supported GPU with 1GB+ Memory
Display: 1600x900 pixels
Drawing Tablet: Wacom Cintiq, Intuos Pro, Intuos or Bamboo.

Microsoft Surface input. Huion Branded graphic tablets.

Unsupported Base Minimum Requirements

Although not recommended or officially supported PaintForge 1.0 may function with the following minimum system hardware.

Complex documents with a large number of layers may not be possible:

Graphics Card/Chipset: OpenGL 3.3 supported GPU with 512MB+ Memory
Display: 1600x900 pixels
Drawing Tablet: Wacom Cintiq, Intuos Pro, Intuos, Graphire or Bamboo.

Microsoft Surface input & Huion Branded graphic tablets.

Optional Hardware

The following optional hardware is also supported:

  • 'macOS Retina' and 'Windows UI' scaling with High-Resolution monitors.
  • Three-button mice with optional scroll wheel.
  • Track-Pad with scroll/pinch gestures.
  • Multiple monitors when using the same graphics card/chipset.
